Day 1: Arusha-Tarangire National Park
Embarking on your morning safari, the journey commences with a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, sprawling across an expanse roughly equivalent to the size of Luxembourg, encompassing about 2,600 km². This diverse landscape showcases vast savannahs, seasonal swamps, and iconic giant baobab trees. Within this natural haven, a rich array of wildlife thrives, including Masai giraffes, buffaloes, hartebeest, eland, fringe-eared oryx, and the unique long-necked gerenuk, accompanied by a symphony of over 550 bird species. Notably, Tarangire is renowned for its majestic elephants, with herds of up to 300 individuals freely roaming the park. This sanctuary stands as one of East Africa’s prime locations to witness and intimately encounter these magnificent creatures. Following an immersive game drive, your day concludes at a campsite just beyond the park’s borders, where the night will be spent in the comfort of a tent.

Dominating a significant portion of the landscape is the alkaline Lake Manyara, a habitat for vibrant colonies of flamingos and various water birds. Here, the name “Serengeti” itself, meaning “endless plains” in the Maasai language, comes to life as you witness the vast grassland savannah stretching endlessly towards the horizon. The landscape is adorned with peculiar rock formations known as kopjes, often serving as vantage points for predators. Depending on the season, the renowned migration of thousands of animals unfolds before your eyes. Following breakfast, you’ll embark on another exhilarating game drive within the vast expanse of the Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti, renowned for being the habitat of the Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard – presents an opportunity to witness all members of this iconic group today. After a satisfying lunch at a scenic picnic site, your journey continues towards the Ngorongoro Crater. As you approach the crater’s edge, a breathtaking panorama unfolds, revealing the expansive caldera below. Home to over 25,000 animals, this approximately 20 km wide crater provides a unique and captivating wildlife spectacle. Your overnight stay at a campsite situated directly on the crater’s edge ensures you’ll enjoy fantastic views of the caldera throughout the night.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater Tour – Arusha
Good morning! Following a daybreak breakfast, you’ll descend into the expansive Ngorongoro Crater. Within the confines of the world’s largest caldera, a remarkable array of wildlife awaits your discovery, ranging from black rhinos and Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles to lions, leopards, elephants, and mountain reedbucks inhabiting the lush slopes’ forests. Keep a keen eye out for buffaloes, spotted hyenas, rare wild dogs, and the diverse birdlife comprising more than 500 species in the area. Following an immersive game drive and a delightful picnic lunch, the afternoon sees your departure from the caldera, heading back to Arusha. Anticipate arriving in the early evening, concluding your safari adventure.
