After breakfast, begin your Tanzania safari adventure with a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, one of the most spectacular wildlife destinations in East Africa. Covering approximately 2,600 km² (About the size of Luxembourg), Tarangire is renowned for its vast savannah landscapes, seasonal swamps, and iconic ancient baobab trees that dominate the horizon.
This extraordinary park is home to a rich diversity of wildlife, including Maasai giraffes, buffaloes, hartebeest, eland, fringe eared oryx, and the unique long-necked gerenuk. Bird enthusiasts will be delighted by more than 550 recorded bird species, making Tarangire a prime location for birdwatching in Tanzania.
However, Tarangire is most famous for its large elephant population. The park hosts some of the biggest elephant herds in Africa, often numbering up to 300 individuals. It is widely considered one of the best places in East Africa to observe elephants up close in their natural habitat, especially during the dry season when wildlife gathers along the Tarangire River.
Enjoy an extensive game drive with opportunities for exceptional wildlife photography before heading to Fig Tree Lodge, located just outside the park. Relax and unwind as you spend the night in a comfortable tented accommodation.
