5-Day Tanzania Explore Camping Safari

In the morning, your Tanzania camping safari begins with a scenic drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park, one of the most spectacular wildlife destinations in northern Tanzania. Covering approximately 2,600 km²—about the size of Luxembourg—Tarangire is renowned for its diverse landscapes of golden savannah, seasonal swamps, and iconic giant baobab trees.

The park is home to an impressive variety of wildlife, including Masai giraffes, buffaloes, hartebeest, eland, fringe-eared oryx, and the unique long-necked gerenuk. With over 550 recorded bird species, Tarangire is also a paradise for bird lovers.

However, the park is most famous for its massive elephant herds. During the dry season, groups of up to 300 elephants gather along the Tarangire River, making it one of the best places in East Africa to witness these majestic giants up close.

After an extensive game drive and picnic lunch inside the park, you will proceed to a Lodge located just outside the park for dinner and overnight at Fig Tree Lodge.

Meals Included: Lunch & Dinner

After an early breakfast, your Tanzania Explore Camping Safari continues with a scenic drive toward the world-famous Serengeti National Park. Today’s journey is not just a transfer—it is a wildlife adventure across changing landscapes.

As you travel through the Great Rift Valley highlands and pass near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you will enjoy breathtaking views and opportunities to spot wildlife along the way. The name “Serengeti” means endless plains in the Maasai language, and once you enter the park, you will immediately understand why. Vast savannahs stretch as far as the eye can see, dotted with acacia trees and roaming wildlife.

The Serengeti is home to Africa’s largest concentration of wildlife and is globally renowned for the Great Wildebeest Migration. Throughout your game drive en route to camp, you may encounter lions resting under trees, elephants moving in herds, giraffes browsing peacefully, zebras, cheetahs, hyenas, and large numbers of wildebeests.

By late afternoon, you will arrive at Nyani Campsite, located in the central Serengeti (Seronera area). This public campsite offers an authentic bush experience in the heart of the park. After dinner prepared by your safari cook, you will fall asleep in your tent surrounded by the natural sounds of the African wilderness.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Accommodation: Nyani Public Campsite

Today is dedicated to a full-day game drive in Serengeti National Park, one of the best safari destinations in Africa. An early morning start gives you the best chance to witness predators in action, as lions, leopards, and cheetahs are most active during the cooler hours.

The central Serengeti (Seronera region) is famous for its year-round wildlife population. The Seronera River attracts a wide variety of animals, making this area ideal for spotting big cats. With luck, you may witness a lion hunt, a leopard resting in a tree, or cheetahs scanning the plains for prey.

Depending on the season, you may also encounter part of the Great Migration, where thousands of wildebeests and zebras move across the plains in search of fresh grazing. Even outside migration months, the Serengeti offers incredible wildlife density and dramatic landscapes perfect for photography.

Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic site within the park before continuing your afternoon game drive. As the sun begins to set, you will return to Nyani Campsite for dinner and another unforgettable night under the stars.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Accommodation: Nyani Public Campsite

After breakfast, you will set out for another exciting morning game drive in Serengeti National Park. The early hours offer excellent wildlife viewing opportunities, and today you may encounter animals you have not yet seen. The Serengeti is home to the legendary Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard—and with some luck, you may spot all five species during your safari adventure.

After a picnic lunch inside the park, you will continue your journey toward the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations. As you ascend to the crater rim, breathtaking panoramic views await you. The massive caldera, approximately 20 km wide, is home to over 25,000 animals, making it one of the highest-density wildlife areas in Africa.

Upon arrival at the crater’s edge, you will check in at a Simba A Public campsite perched directly on the rim. Enjoy spectacular sunset views over the caldera before dinner and an unforgettable night under the stars.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner**

Rise and shine! After an early breakfast, you will drive down into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. The crater floor is a wildlife paradise, home to an extraordinary diversity of animals. During your morning game drive, you may encounter black rhinos, lions, leopards, elephants, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, as well as mountain reedbucks in the forested slopes.

Keep your eyes open for buffaloes, spotted hyenas, and the rare African wild dog. Bird enthusiasts will also enjoy spotting some of the over 500 species inhabiting the crater, including flamingos, vultures, and eagles.

After a picnic lunch amidst the stunning landscapes, you will begin your journey back to Arusha. You are expected to arrive in the early evening, concluding your unforgettable Tanzania Explore Camping Safari filled with wildlife encounters, breathtaking scenery, and memories to last a lifetime.
