Morning Departure to Tarangire National Park

Your adventure begins in the morning as you depart from Arusha for Tarangire National Park. Along the way, enjoy scenic views of the Tanzanian countryside. Covering approximately 2,600 km², Tarangire is known for its vast savannahs, seasonal swamps, and iconic baobab trees.

Game Drive and Wildlife Viewing

Once inside the park, embark on an extensive game drive to explore its rich wildlife. Tarangire is home to Masai giraffes, African buffaloes, hartebeest, eland, fringe-eared oryx, and the uniquely long-necked gerenuk. Morning Journey to Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast at your campsite, begin your journey to Lake Manyara National Park, one of Tanzania’s smaller yet incredibly diverse wildlife destinations. The park is famous for its lush forests, grassy plains, and the alkaline lake, which attracts flocks of flamingos and other water birds. With over 400 species recorded, it is a paradise for birdwatchers.

Wildlife and Photography Opportunities

Lake Manyara’s rich ecosystem is home to a variety of wildlife. Apart from elephant herds, you may spot giraffes, hippos, wildebeests, and impalas roaming the plains. The forests near the lake are lively with groups of monkeys and baboons, offering plenty of opportunities for wildlife photography.

Afternoon at Fig Tree Lodge

In the afternoon, after an extensive game drive, return to Fig Tree Lodge. Relax by the pool or enjoy a drink at the bar while reflecting on your day of amazing wildlife encounters.

Journey Through the Northern Highlands

After breakfast, your safari continues through the lush highlands of northern Tanzania. Along the way, notice fertile lands producing crops like wheat, corn, and coffee. While traveling through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, stop at a scenic viewpoint for breathtaking views over the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s most spectacular natural wonders.

Entering the Serengeti

Next, continue your drive to Serengeti National Park, whose name means “endless plains” in the Maasai language. Upon arrival, marvel at vast grassland savannahs stretching to the horizon, dotted with unique rock formations known as kopjes. These are often resting or hunting spots for predators such as lions and leopards.

Witness the Great Migration

Depending on the season, you may witness the Great Migration, one of the planet’s most spectacular wildlife events. Thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and other herbivores move across the plains in search of fresh grazing. Your experienced guide will help you spot wildlife and capture unforgettable moments on camera.

Overnight at Nyani Public Campsite

In the late afternoon, arrive at Nyani Public Campsite in the Seronera Valley, central Serengeti. After a hearty dinner, fall asleep to the soothing sounds of the African bush, surrounded by wildlife.

Spend an entire day exploring the Serengeti National Park on an unforgettable game drive. The areas you visit will depend on the location of the migrating herds, as predators often follow closely behind the moving animals.

During the short rainy season (November–December), wildebeest and zebra herds move from the northern hills to the southern plains, while in the long rainy season (April–June), they return north. The exact route of the Great Migration varies each year depending on rainfall, but your experienced guide will know the best spots to observe wildlife and capture incredible safari moments.

Apart from witnessing thousands of wildebeests and zebras, you may also encounter Africa’s top predators, including lions, leopards, and cheetahs, as they hunt along the migration path. Your day will be filled with wildlife sightings, stunning landscapes, and endless photographic opportunities across the endless Serengeti plains.

In the late afternoon, return to Nyani Public Campsite in the Seronera area, where you will enjoy another night under the stars and the sounds of the African bush.

After Breakfast, proceed on another game drive in the Serengeti National Park, giving you a final chance to spot wildlife you haven’t seen yet. The Serengeti is home to the Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard – and today you may be lucky enough to encounter all of them in their natural habitat.

Following a picnic lunch in the park, begin your drive toward the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Tanzania’s most iconic natural wonders. As you reach the rim, the crater caldera opens up before you, revealing a breathtaking landscape that is home to over 25,000 animals, including lions, elephants, zebras, and wildebeests.

You will spend the night at Simba A Public campsite located directly on the crater’s edge, offering spectacular views over the caldera and an unforgettable opportunity to experience the African wilderness at sunset.

Rise and shine! After an early breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. This unique ecosystem is home to a remarkable diversity of wildlife. During your game drive, you may spot black rhinos, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, lions, leopards, elephants, and mountain reedbucks in the forested slopes.

Other possible sightings include buffaloes, spotted hyenas, rare African wild dogs, and a spectacular array of over 500 bird species, making the crater a true haven for wildlife and photography enthusiasts.

Enjoy a picnic lunch amidst the breathtaking scenery before leaving the caldera in the afternoon. You will then begin your journey back to Arusha, arriving in the early evening with unforgettable memories of your Tanzanian safari adventure.
